Dear Health Insurer

I just wrote this to my health insurer:

Hello, I note that you provide refunds for homeopathic remedies.

Given that the two basic tenets of homeopathy are:
1. Like cures like, so e.g. caffiene is given as a cure for insomnia.
2. The weaker the dose, the higher the potency.

These are clearly ridiculous claims.

To give a stimulant in any dose for insomnia goes against all known science. As for the dilution, typical concentrations are 1: to the power of  23 - a 1 followed by 23 zeros.
Given Avagadro's Number, there is doubt that a single atom of the active ingredient reaches the patient.
They drink water or swallow placebo pills. There is not a shred of scientifically verified evidence to support the claims these people make.

I object to you paying for these 'treatments' for three reasons.

1. It enriches these con artists.
2. It gives a level of respectability to their fraud.
3. My premiums are higher because you pay this benefit.

I doubt this will have any affect upon your practices, but could you at least grant me a reason why you will continue to support this fraud upon genuinely sick people?
