In April this year, I attended the Global Atheist Convention, in Melbourne. I had a ticket to the Gala Dinner (where I shook the hand of Richard Dawkins, who was rude and shook the hand of Lawrence Krauss who was kind and didn't mind my blathering compliments.)
At the Dinner, other vegetarian at our table, and I were leading a discussion about what we hate about being vegetarian.
Amongst the list were things like, on planes the person next to you will peer over your plate and pronounce judgment - usually positive. Always having to read the ingredients at the supermarket and so on. But the biggest gripe was people demanding we justify our stance. Much like people often expect atheists to prove there is no god, vegetarians are asked constantly to say why we *don't* do something.
Surely the burden of explanation is upon the omnivores, just like the burden of proof is on the theists?
