Betelgeuse will explode!

Great Caesar's Ghost! It would be wonderful to have lived to see a local star explode. What a sight! Seeing one of the most energetic explosions anywhere in the universe blasting most of itself off into space. This will create shockwaves that power through the gas clouds of nebulae kicking off new stars and creating the vast array of elements that populate our periodic table.. This star will shine bright in our daytime and most people on the planet will be able to see it. And it won't just be us watching. Every civilization in the galaxy will turn to view this wonder in our back yard. Some far more advanced than us, will stare at this marvel. But none will be as thrilled, as fascinated and chocka block full of gratitude, than I. Please, please Betelgeuse blow 650 years ago!
