I was just thinking about holy water and asked this of www.catholicanswers.com
I have been to catholic funerals and seen the priest sprinkle holy water on the coffin. I always thought that by the time you are dead, the jury is pretty much back on your fate. You are either in heaven or in hell or waiting to get there. What is the efficacy of the holy water? Does that cancel out a few sins or what? Do you need to sprinkle more on a bad person than a good?
